What is an ADSL
line?
ADSL (asynchronous digital subscriber
line) is a technology that transforms telephone
lines or a pair of subscriber into high
speed lines that can be used for internet
access, tele-working and multimedia and
interactive applications like internet
gaming, video on demand etc.
The sending and receiving of data is established from the user’s computer
through the ADSL modem or router.
This data passes through a filter (splitter) which allows the simultaneous use
of the basic telephone service and the ADSL service.
The user can speak by telephone at the same time as accessing the internet.
Do I
need to reconvert my line again?
No, it is not necessary to repeat the
process.
Can I
use the modem or router that I have?
Yes, but we add nothing to it. We deliver
our modem or router at no cost and, furthermore,
if you use your own modem or router it
will not have our guarantee.
Can I
continue to use my email addresses?
If it is a web-based mail account, there
is no problem.
Otherwise, you will not be able to continue using it because it is associated
with your current internet provider. Affinalia provides up to 5 email addresses
free of charge, which will be of the form xxxxx@affinet.net
Should you be using your own email server, it will not be affected.
Who can
access Euphony ADSL and benefit from
its advantages?
Companies and professionals who
have contracted any of our landline services
from Affinalia.
What
do I need to install the ADSL kit?
For ADSL installation, all you need is:
- An analogue telephone line (not RDSI)
belonging to a Telefónica exchange
that supports ADSL.
- An ADSL Kit service contract.
Everything else that is needed is included
in the ADSL kit. You will also receive a
letter in which we will inform you of your
username and password.
Is it
easy to install the ADSL KIT?
Yes it is a guided installation
process and very simple. It includes detailed
instructions that enable very easy installation.
Also you can contact our Technical Support Centre, should you have any questions,
by calling 902 33 11 43 (confirm).
With
which operating systems does the ADSL
modem work?
Although the ADSL service does not prescribe
any specific operating system, the USB
interface is not compatible with Windows
95.
Windows 98 or better is recommended.
Neither is it compatible with Macintosh computers. USB is only supported on a
PC with the equipment specified in the requirements, and not with PCs or compatibles
that do not comply with the characteristics specified in the requirements.
What
specifications does my PC need to have?
- Operating system Windows 98, NT 4.0,
2000, Millennium or XP.
- Pentium II 266 MHz. processor minimum,
466 MHz. or better recommended.
- 32 Mb of RAM memory.
- USB 1.1 interface
- If the PC does not
have any USB ports, it can use a USB
PCI adapter. And if you wish to increase
the number of USB ports on the PC you
can acquire a USB hub. Both accessories
can be found in most computer shops.
How
often will I be billed?
Monthly, payment in advance.
Your ADSL bill comes as part of your bill for the telephone line with Affinalia,
all invoiced items being charged to the current account associated with the line.
The following bills will be presented for payment between the 18th and 20th of
each month including the following items:
- One month’s usage of conventional
telephone traffic, one month in arrears.
